What is Creative Commons? Makes a label that makes use clear.
Mark your own work, how you'd like it to be used. Google CREATE creative commons license. What do you label with it? Blogs. Students can put it on theirs too. This is the website https://creativecommons.org/choose/ You can make a code and then copy the code to a page that has an embed feature. It will make the little label. I have really enjoyed being around the infectious energy of colleagues, especially that their creative lives dovetail with what they present to students.
I am still somewhat stressed about narrowing my question, but I was encouraged by presenting at the Ed Café. I have many Summer Institute related goals for the weekend: type up Morning Writings and post them on the blog. I'd like to reread the 2 main articles I liked and then look up some of the articles sources. After much burning of thumbs with the glue gun, and much changing of my mind what I was "trying to say" with it, what its "function" would be, here is the all purpose appliance and exercise machine. It's name is Control Yourself. As 3-4 colleagues noted, it is like a spirit stick or an entertainment bar or a representation of the important areas of life, "fun, food, love, and identity." I was afraid to offend people with the picture of Rachel Dolezal in the pill bottle with a trans woman (white). One person actually said, "there's one white woman and one black woman (Dolezal). I cycled through whether this was about medicalizing identity, exercising understanding and compassion, comparing situations inappropriately, mediated self, medical self....
Day 2 I was late to everything, "a la bourre," as they say in French. I think it means you are at the executioner, at the gallows.
People move so quickly from one thing to the other, chirping this and that, switching from page to page. Again time limits.... I finished my concept map and posted it! Whata bunch of gobbledy gook. We got a clarification that the demo does not have to be on the same thing as the line of inquiry. I feel a lot of affinity with Jenna and Shalonda's inquiries. What a cool group of people! Also, drink coffee before you come AND writing outside is wonderful, smaller group and so relaxing. Today was our first day of the Summer Institute Writing Program. I really enjoyed the morning writing time, writing about a photo. It was peaceful and beautiful outside. I chose a photo of me and Richard on the beaches of Clinton Lake. In my writing this AM, I was vigilant to not start all my sentences with, "I." I guess I am harkening back to my first writing teachers, I remember the prescriptive rules, pet peeves, and writing hints of Mrs. Wilkinson, 4th grade, Mr. Capute, 9th grade, Mr. Killion, 10th grade.
Three quarters of this blog entry was lost yesterday afternoon when I was kicked off the internet without saving my work. Lesson learned. SAVE often. I had an annoyed reaction to having to open all these new accounts, just defensive grumbling, I'll get used to it. I'm probably going to need more attention than most of the other participants in this class when it comes to using any of these platforms fluently. I REALLY loved the personal writing time on the first morning of the summer institute. I have a lot of ideas (not unusual) and had a good time working on them. I even cried when talking about the photo that was the prompt, but my group was very sweet about it. I think the personal writing time and discussions are going to be my favorite parts of this institute. I had so many things I'd like to say and I think would be interesting to write down. I am RICH! I really struggled with making the concept map. I did it twice and it was too chaotic or too long-winded. This seems to go back to how much trouble I have refining a topic and moving forward. It's never a problem to list and re-list ideas, but narrowing down, choosing, staying in a lane, these are difficult for me! People in my group seemed to have VERY well-developed idea, something they even could present on tomorrow, if pressed. Looking forward to more writing. |
